Несмотря на название, Международный женский день празднуется далеко не во всём мире. В англоязычных странах есть аналоги, которые тоже отмечаются весной, хотя и не восьмого марта. Сегодня я предлагаю вам вместе разобраться в названиях, а заодно и отметить этот день вместе с детьми.

Как такового "женского дня" в англоязычном мире нет - зато есть так называемый "день мам". В Великобритании мам принято поздравлять в четвёртое воскресенье Великого поста - в этом году "Mothering Sunday" выпадет на 30 марта. В США "Mother's Day" отмечается во второе воскресенье последнего месяца весны - в этом году это будет 11 мая.

Mothering Sunday is a Christian holiday celebrated throughout Europe that falls on the 4th Sunday in Lent. Secularly, it became an occasion for honouring the mothers of children and giving them presents. It is increasingly being called Mother's Day, although that holiday has other origins. In the UK, Mothering Sunday is celebrated in the same way as Mother's Day is celebrated elsewhere. (source)

Mother's Day is a celebration honoring mothers and motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in March or May. It complements Father's Day, a similar celebration honoring fathers.

The celebration of Mother's Day began in the United States in the early 20th century; it is not related to the many celebrations of mothers and motherhood that have occurred throughout the world over thousands of years, such as the Greek cult to Cybele, the Roman festival of Hilaria, or the Christian Mothering Sunday celebration. Despite this, in some countries Mother's Day has become synonymous with these older traditions. (source)

Таким образом, несмотря на различия в названиях и датах, можно говорить об общемировой тенденции к объединении традиций. И отмечаемый в России женский день тоже по сути своей давно является днём мам.

Поэтому давайте вместе споём несколько песен, посвящённых мамам.

Ну, и третья песенка совсем простая - с ней легко справятся даже начинающие:

Безусловно, любой маме будет приятно, если её ребёнок выучит для неё песню. Но для ещё большего счастья нужно подарить ей что-то осязаемое, что надолго останется у неё в памяти. Чем не вариант сделанная своими руками открытка? Мы воспользовались идеей с сайта "Make and Takes":

Origami Tulip Postcard

You'll need:

• sheets of A4 paper
• 6? (15 cm) origami paper squares
• coloured pencils
• glue sticks

Let’s get started!

Steps for folding an origami tulip:

1. For each step, press each fold well with your fingers.
2. Fold the first piece of tulip paper in half to make a triangle, turn it so the long edge is at the bottom.
3. Fold the paper in half again, just enough to crease the centre of the bottom fold. Then fold from the centre to a couple of cm's from the top of the triangle.
4. Repeat with the other side.
5. Flip the paper over and fold up the bottom corner.
6. Then fold in the right corner.
7. Then the left corner.
8. Turn over, that is the tulip head finished.

Lay out the tulips for placement, but no gluing yet. Draw grass, stems, and leaves for your flowers.

Once you have finished drawing, use a glue stick to attach your origami tulips. Be sure to put extra glue on the little flaps on the back. Even after gluing down, the tulips will still pop up a bit for a 3-D effect. You may want to add a few butterflies and ladybugs.

These postcards will definitely bring some springtime cheer to your houses!

Как видите, тюльпаны получились слишком большими для данного размера открытки, поэтому, если вы будете повторять, либо возьмите лист бумаги побольше, либо уменьшите размер цветов.

Внутри открытки мы написали стишок-поздравление:

Sugar is sweet
And so are you.

К открытке, конечно же, должен прилагаться подарок. Мы делали мамины портреты из пластилина на круглых пластиковых подложках. Причём, девочки так вошли во вкус, что не ограничились мамами, а сделали и пап.
