Уж не знаю, почему, но я не встречала ещё ни одного ребёнка, который бы точил карандаши по одному, по мере их затупления. Обычно не точенные карандаши копятся до тех пор, пока их не насобирается целая гора и ребёнку станет нечем рисовать. С чем это связано и почему детям удобно делать именно так - для меня это загадка. Как бы то ни было, на днях мы с дочкой совершили героический поступок - переточили все карандаши в доме.
Точнее, точила, в основном я - а Даша в это время раскрашивала картинки.
How to sharpen a pencil
Things You'll Need
blunt drawing pencils (lead and coloured)
a pencil sharpener - a device for sharpening a pencil's writing point by shaving away its worn surface
Instructions
Put the lead end of the pencil in the sharpener. Keep the pencil and sharpener in a straight line.
Twist the pencil clockwise. Sharpen slowly and don't press too hard.
Turn until you feel less resistance to twisting, or you are satisfied with the sharpness.(Make sure the pencil's tip is secure and will not fall out when pressure is applied)
Pull the pencil out and brush or blow away the shavings. Make sure to blow away from your or other's faces, unless you want stinging eyes. You can also dispose the shavings in a garbage can.
Tips
If your pencil sharpener will not sharpen the pencil well, check that the space where the pencil tip should go is not blocked by broken graphite (the black part) from the tip of the pencil. If it still will not sharpen well, the blade in the sharpener may be blunt. Do not jam in the pencil too hard. Hold the pencil steady and lightly shave the graphite to a slow smooth point softly.
You can further sharpen many pencils by drawing them against fine sandpaper or an emery board. You can also do this to keep a sharp point between sharpening.
Instead of an old-fashioned sharpener, you can buy the ones with a built-in container to hold the shavings. This way, you don't have to keep walking back and forth to the garbage can.
Кстати, очень удобно иметь точилку с двумя отверстиями. Правда, в этом случае вы не сможете вставить карандаш в любое из них, а лишь в то, которое подходит по размеру (to insert a pencil into the appropriate sized hole):
